BREAKING: Significant Setback as Another Key Player Placed on IL After Impressive Start

The Texas Rangers’ pitching rotation has taken a hit with the news that Jack Leiter has been placed on the injured list.

Leiter, who had a strong start to the season with two wins in his first two starts, is dealing with a blister and has been put on the 15-day IL, as reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Patrick Corbin will take over Leiter’s spot in the rotation.

Although a blister is not considered a serious injury, it is still an unfortunate setback, especially given Leiter’s impressive performance. In his two outings this season, he posted a remarkable 0.90 ERA, a 0.700 WHIP, and struck out 10 batters in 10 innings. These numbers are a significant improvement over his 2024 season, and if he continues at this pace, the Rangers could have a standout pitcher on their hands throughout 2025.

While Leiter recovers, the team will rely on veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin, who has struggled in recent years with the Washington Nationals, compiling a 31-63 record over the past four seasons. However, with the Rangers’ strong lineup, Corbin may benefit from better run support during his stint in the rotation.

Given that Leiter pitched just days ago in a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds, Corbin is expected to take the mound in the series against the Chicago Cubs on April 8 or 9.
