After another strong season that fell just short of the Final Four, the Tennessee Volunteers are making moves in the transfer portal to address significant roster changes. With five seniors likely departing, including star Zakai Zeigler, Tennessee is looking to add talent, and head coach Rick Barnes is targeting a few key players for immediate impact.
One notable potential addition is Morez Johnson, a freshman forward who recently left Illinois following a reported fallout with the program. Johnson, who had committed to Illinois since high school, had a tumultuous relationship with the coaching staff, which reportedly soured in the last 48 hours, prompting his decision to enter the portal.
The Vols are now one of six programs competing for Johnson’s commitment. Given Tennessee’s need for depth, especially with several senior departures, Johnson could make an immediate contribution. Adding him to their roster would significantly boost the team’s chances of reaching the Final Four in the upcoming season.
