UPDATE: Amari Williams Pushes Through Injury, Expected to Play Key Role in Wildcats’ Next Tournament Game

 

After battling through a back injury in Kentucky’s 76-57 victory over Troy, Amari Williams is expected to be ready for the Wildcats’ next NCAA Tournament matchup.

Despite the injury, Williams showcased his defensive dominance, grabbing 13 rebounds12 of them on the defensive end—while also adding four assists. However, his offensive struggles were apparent, as he managed only five points on 2-of-8 shooting and missed four of his five free-throw attempts.

Head coach Mark Pope acknowledged Williams’ injury but remains optimistic about his availability, stating that the Wildcats will need his presence as they prepare to face either Illinois or Xavier in their next game.

With Kentucky aiming to make a deep tournament run, all eyes will be on Williams’ recovery and whether he can continue anchoring the defense while regaining his offensive rhythm.
