Wide receiver Tyler Johnson has signed with the New York Jets, marking a fresh start after a season with the Los Angeles Rams. Johnson, in his fifth NFL season, had his most significant opportunity yet in 2024, making the Rams’ roster and seeing offensive snaps. However, despite a decent showing, including four catches for 35 yards and a touchdown in the season finale, the Rams decided not to re-sign him after his contract expired.
The Jets, recognizing his potential, moved quickly to secure the 6-foot-1 receiver, and it seems Johnson has earned an immediate promotion in the process. With the Jets, he is set to compete for a prominent role in their offense, expected to slot in as their WR2 behind standout receiver Garrett Wilson.

Johnson’s signing comes after the Rams extended wide receiver Tutu Atwell, which indicated that Johnson’s time with Los Angeles had come to an end. Despite limited opportunities in 2024, Johnson showed he can perform when given the chance. In games where he was targeted seven or more times, he caught 13 of 21 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown.
Now in New York, Johnson has a chance to prove himself further, and with his experience, he could become a key contributor to the Jets’ offensive plans for the 2025 season
