The Tennessee Vols’ 865 Live event this past weekend included a sizable number of high school talent on campus.
Among the top prospects in Knoxville this past weekend were four-star edge rusher Jared Smith, five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr., and four-star safety Lagonza Hayward.
George MacIntyre, a five-star quarterback, was among the current Tennessee commits present during the Vols’ significant recruiting weekend.
When discussing the historic weekend with On3, MacIntyre hinted that it was really a “warm-up” for the forthcoming June 13–16 weekend, which the Vols commit believes would be the most significant recruiting weekend in Josh Heupel’s tenure.
The native of Tennessee also mentioned that the Vols anticipate some “good news” for the upcoming weekend.
In just two weeks before June 13–16, 865 Live was full of great energy, and it was significant to have so many recruiters on campus, according to MacIntyre. “I think it was a preamble to the most anticipated recruiting weekend under Coach Heupel, where we anticipate some positive news from a few guys,”
The weekend of June 13–16 will see the official visits of Sanders, Ffrench, and Smith.
Isaiah Gibson, a five-star edge rusher in 2025, has canceled his trip to Florida in order to attend Tennessee, thus Gibson will also be in Knoxville that weekend.
Naturally, MacIntyre will return to Tennessee in June for the Vols’ major recruiting weekend. When prominent recruits are in town for visits, the five-star quarterback has been very proactive in assisting the Vols coaching staff in attracting talent by frequently visiting Knoxville.
Weekends devoted to recruiting, such as the Vols’ scheduled June 13–16 events, have the power to turn around a program. It may set up the program for prosperous seasons for years to come if Tennessee can use that weekend to polish off a prospective top five recruiting class.
Fans of Tennessee are undoubtedly in for an exciting time.
