Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance at Saturday’s NHL playoff game in Dallas

 

Patrick Mahomes was taken aback by it and joked with his tight end to “get out of my arena.”

As his tweet implies, Kelce is not completely inexperienced with hockey.

In high school, Kelce participated in baseball, basketball, and football. He was an Ohio pee wee hockey player before all of that, though.

An old tweet that reappeared after Kelce’s participation at the Stars-Oilers game said, “I really love hockey.” “Since I stopped playing after eight years, I haven’t stepped on the lovely… However, that needs to alter! It is too much missed.

On Saturday in Dallas, Kelce wasn’t the only famous athlete in the crowd. Dirk Nowitzki, the NBA champion and former top player for the Dallas Mavericks, was also spotted at American Airlines Arena, where a statue of the German basketball legend is currently located.5.

The Stars, who had lost Game 1 in double OT and were trailing 1-0 in the series, took the lead at 3:39 of the first period when Jamie Benn scored off assists from Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen.

A minute later, Connor Brown of Edmonton scored the equalizer with help from Cody Ceci and Warren Foegele.

However, after a series of Dallas misses, Mason Marchment beat Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner at 3:41 into the third to break the stalemate.

Esa Lindell of Dallas put the game out of reach with an empty net goal after Skinner was substituted with just over two minutes remaining, capping an unsuccessful attempt at a comeback by Edmonton.

Following their scratch in Game 2, Oilers forward Adam Henrique and Dallas front-line center Roope Hintz both missed one more game in this round of the playoffs.

Their coaches had characterized both players as decisions made throughout the game.

After hurting his ankle in the first-round series against Los Angeles on May 1, Henrique has missed seven straight games and eight of nine overall.

Hintz missed his fourth consecutive game due to an upper-body injury. Since departing Game 4 of the Stars’ second-round series against Colorado on May 13, he has not appeared on the field.

3:39 into the game, Benn scored Dallas’ first goal on goal, a wrister from the top of the right circle that soared across Skinner’s face and into the lower left corner of the net.

After Brown initially gave the puck to Cody Ceci, who then scored on a rebound of Ceci’s shot, Edmonton, who had outshot the Stars 17–4, tied the score in the first period. It was Brown’s first goal of the postseason; he had previously only scored one, against Boston in 2018 when playing for Toronto.

The Stars failed to score on their lone power play in Game 2 after going 0 for 5 on the power play in the series opener, which included a double-minor penalty in the first overtime that gave them four minutes with a man advantage.

With that, Edmonton’s run of more than six games with 20 penalties killed since giving up a power-play goal in Game 3 of its second-round series against Vancouver was extended.
