Just In: Michigan is in hot pursuit of another Tp Rnak And five-star OL

A brilliant hooper ranks the Wolverines among his top ten teams, and a four-star 2026 overtime player discusses his upcoming trip to Michigan, which will take place this coming weekend.

Michigan’s greatest recruiting event of the summer — the BBQ at the Big House — is slated for this weekend. It is anticipated that more than fifty athletes will arrive in Ann Arbor over the next few days, and we will have lots of news on recruiting.

There is still some news regarding the recruitment process that has to be addressed, so let’s get right into it.

Michigan is looking to acquire a five-star offensive lineman in 2026.

With the reputation that Michigan has earned in the trenches, the school is trying to retool that unit with exceptional talent such as Immanuel Iheanacho, who is a five-star prospect for the year 2026. Ann Arbor has been identified as a site where offensive lineman have the potential to flourish.

A Rockville, Maryland native, Iheanacho is ranked fourth in the 2026 class on the 247Sports composite. Iheanacho picked up an offer from Michigan this spring, and he has offers from a couple dozen schools ahead of his junior high school season.

Iheanacho discussed his offer in an interview with EJ Holland of The Wolverine ($), expanding on Michigan offered him during the spring assessment period.

Iheanacho expressed his excitement by saying, “When I got it, I was very excited.” “They told me they wanted to take their time and see me in person. After seeing me, they made me an offer, and I was extremely enthusiastic about it. They had just brought home the national championship. Knowing they won the National Championship and have interest in me is a blessing.”

Iheanacho has been developing a positive relationship with offensive line coach Grant Newsome, as has been the case with a large number of other excellent offensive linemen.

“He’s a nice, well-spoken coach,” Iheanacho added. “He went to Michigan. There are only so many coaches that go back to where they played. To win a national championship there, too, I know that he knows what he’s doing.”

Iheanacho said he does want to get to Ann Arbor eventually. Getting him on the sideline this season for a game could be essential to his recruitment.

“I’ve never been to Michigan, so I’m interested to see what it’s like out there. I want to see the stadium, the whole region, the college and some culinary areas (laughs).”

2026 four-star OT visiting Michigan for the first time this weekend

Like Imeanacho, multiple teams have their sights set on Leo Delaney, a 2026 four-star offensive lineman ranked just outside the top-70 in his class on the 247Sports composite.

The North Carolina native has offers from more than two dozen institutions, including Michigan. He’s visiting Ann Arbor for the first time this weekend for the BBQ and is excited to see some former high school teammates at Providence Day.

“I am definitely looking forward to my first visit to Michigan a lot,” Delaney told Chad Simmons with On3 ($). ”Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin go there, so I am excited to see what they love so much about it. I am looking forward to meeting the strength coaches, meeting coach Sherrone Moore and start to create better ties with the coaches. It will be wonderful to see what the town of Ann Arbor is about, too.”

As is certainly the case with many recruits, Delaney is aware of how successfully Michigan develops talent on the offensive line, with the hardware speaking for itself.

“They had six offensive linemen in the NFL Combine, they won two out of the last three Joe Moore Awards and they just breed offensive linemen,” Delaney added. “I feel a school like this can really develop me.”

We’ll maintain tabs on the recruiting of Iheanacho and Delaney, who already appear to be key targets in the 2026 class.

Four-star shooting guard puts Michigan in top-10

Shifting gears to men’s basketball for a second, the Wolverines were among the schools in the top-10 for 2025 four-star shooting guard Braylon Mullins. Michigan, Indiana and Purdue are the only Big Ten colleges represented in the group.

On the 247Sports composite, the Greenfield, Indiana native is rated just outside the top-70 in his class, 13th among shooting guard and fourth among recruits from the Hoosier state.

There’s a lot to enjoy in Mullins’ game. It’s evident Dusty May is recruiting him because of his shooting ability, his bounce around the rim and his aggressiveness on the offensive glass, the last of which is always an extra advantage for a 6-foot-5 guard.
