Danielle Collins Discusses ‘Tough Few Days’ Before Olympics Due to a ‘Leak’ Back Home in Florida
UVA alumna Danielle Collins has experienced the challenging life of an athlete. While every player faces personal battles to achieve success, Collins has navigated her own unique struggles, marked by physical and financial difficulties. Despite setbacks, including a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, Collins has persevered, continuing to chase her dreams and achieve remarkable results.
Just a week after her impressive Wimbledon campaign, Collins returned to reality, dealing with an issue unrelated to her professional life. The American talent faced a troublesome situation at her home in Florida. In a phone interview with ‘UVA Today,’ Collins reflected on various topics, primarily her tennis career, but also highlighted a significant water leak at her home. She described the situation as concerning and said she’s been working to resolve it. “I got home to my house in Florida, and I had a big (water) leak. It’s been a tough few days just trying to get everything sorted.”
Collins is currently enjoying the best season of her career. Despite exiting Wimbledon in the fourth round after losing to Barbora Krejcikova, she earned the nickname “Danimal” for her series of impressive performances. While she has faced off-court challenges, her on-court success has helped her rise to World No. 9 in the international rankings. Now, she is set to represent Team USA in the Paris Olympics, an honor she holds in high regard.
