Georgia WR Sacovie White has been Arrested for the crime of Reckless Driving
Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that White was taken into the Athens-Clarke County prison at 3:04 a.m. on Saturday and later released on two $26 bonds.
After being stopped and accused of dangerous driving and turning the wrong way on a one-way street, he was lodged into jail.
Towers stated that since the tragic accident in January 2023 that claimed the lives of football player Devin Willock and recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy, this is the seventeenth time a member of the football team has been either arrested or cited for a traffic-related violation.
When that incident happened, LeCroy and defensive tackle Jalen Carter of Georgia, according to the police, were racing at above 100 mph. Carter entered a no-contest plea and was given a 12-month probationary term, a $1,000 fine, 80 hours of community service, and an order to complete a defensive driving course. Carter is currently a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Regarding White, this is his second arrest of 2024 related to a Georgia football player involved in a traffic incident.
As Towers pointed out, running back Trevor Etienne was imprisoned for allegedly speeding in March—going over 80 mph in a 40 mph zone—and was cited for DUI, reckless driving, and two other minor offenses.
The Bulldogs had neither player during the previous campaign.
Etienne moved from Florida to Georgia, and White was a member of the recruiting class for 2024. In January, White enrolled early.
