Two F-16s will soar over the site on Friday at 1:02 pm, when Lexi Thompson takes the field. Thompson is playing her final full-time season this year, so the gesture will serve as a way to honor her. In addition to F-16s taking to the sky to honor Lexi Thompson’s trip, there will be buttons that say “Thank you, Lexi” and pink hats bearing her name.

The Open Championship in the men’s circuit and the tournament both begin on Thursday. The Dana Open has a $1.75 million purse this year.

Regarding Thompson’s performance at the Dana Open, her best result to date was a runner-up spot in 2018. She also has six finishes in the top 20 at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Overall, Lexi Thompson’s season was mediocre. Four of the five cuts she missed were in quick succession. This season, her best finish came at the Meijer LPGA Classic, when she placed T2. The LPGA star finished in T9 at her final event, the KPMG PGA Women’s Championship. She withdrew from the Amundi Evian Championship after that, and the Dana Open would be her next competition.

Thompson gave a thorough explanation of the thinking behind her significant choice to give up golf back in May.She made a point of saying that she wanted to explore more of life than just golf and a regular schedule.

“Although I’m 14 years old, I won’t sit here and claim that I haven’t thought about it in the previous few years or in previous years.” However, I think I’ve reached a stage in my life where it’s appropriate to simply take a break from a full-time schedule,” Thompson stated during a news conference.
She went on, “There’s just more to life than showing up to a competition every week and training in the same way every day.In addition to feeling really happy with where my life is right now and where this choice will take me, I’m looking forward to experiencing it. I’m simply excited for everything that life has in store for me besides golf.
