Alec Burks has joined the Miami Heat, the team announced today. The terms of the contract were kept confidential, per club policy.

Recently, Burks made five postseason appearances with the New York Knicks this past season (including a 44-second cameo on May 8). In each game, he averaged 17.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 24.0 minutes while shooting 51 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range, and 84.4 percent from the foul line. Burks scored in double figures in every game.In four of the five games, he made multiple three-pointers, and in two of them, he shot at least sixty percent.

He tied for second in three-point field goals made, finished second in free throws made and %, finished third in points, and finished fourth in defensive rebounds during the Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup with Indiana.He played in 66 games overall (one start) and divided the regular season between the Knicks and the Detroit Pistons, averaging 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 18.4 minutes.To date, the 13-year NBA veteran has played in 742 games (144 starts), scoring 41.5 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from three-point range, and 80.6 percent from the foul line. His averages are 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
