BREAKING: Fans Demand Change: Mounting Pressure on Yankees GM Brian Cashman to Step Down After Embarrassing Loss and Alarming Pitching Collapse Threaten Season’s Hopes

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently notched his 2,500th win leading the franchise—but fans are questioning whether he should be around for many more.

Following a humiliating 9-1 rain-shortened loss to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night, frustrated Yankees fans flooded social media, calling for Cashman’s dismissal. The team has now dropped six of its last 10 games after opening the season strong with a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The performance on Friday hit a new low. Struggling starter Marcus Stroman gave up five runs and didn’t even escape the first inning. Fans were quick to express their outrage online, with some calling for both Stroman and Cashman to be removed from New York altogether.

Critics have pointed to a string of poor trades and questionable free agent signings under Cashman’s watch, saying it’s long past time for a front office shakeup. While the Yankees are known for their stability—having had only three managers since 1996—fans believe the team’s stagnation demands drastic action.

Despite the Yankees’ consistently high payroll and star-studded rosters, the team has only won one World Series title and two American League pennants since 2003. Their most recent championship came in 2009, marking the longest title drought the franchise has seen since 1979 to 1995.

The outcry has intensified as the Yankees’ rotation crumbles under injuries. With ace Gerrit Cole out for the season after Tommy John surgery, and Luis Gil sidelined indefinitely, fans are blaming the front office for not addressing the team’s pitching depth. Even with Clarke Schmidt expected back soon, the trio of Stroman, Carlos Carrasco, and Will Warren have underperformed, combining for -1.0 WAR and 28 earned runs in just 30 innings.

While many fans are demanding a change at the top, a shakeup remains unlikely in the short term. Cashman signed a four-year extension in late 2022, keeping him under contract through the 2026 season. Still, the calls for accountability are growing louder as the Yankees’ once-promising season starts to unravel.
