“This Is the Only Place I Feel at Home”: Paige Bueckers Announces Return to UConn, Promising Fans More Strong Play

In a move that has energized UConn fans nationwide, Paige Bueckers has announced she will return for another season with the Huskies. The superstar guard, fresh off leading UConn to its 12th national championship, revealed her decision to stay for the 2025-2026 season, promising fans even more of the high-level play they’ve come to expect from one of the nation’s brightest stars.

“This is the only place I feel at home,” Bueckers said in an emotional statement. “UConn has given me everything — the coaches, my teammates, and this amazing fanbase. I’m not ready to leave just yet. I owe it to myself and to all the people who have supported me to give it one more year of strong play.”

Bueckers, who sat out the entire 2022–2023 season due to a torn ACL, returned to elite form in 2024-2025. She averaged 21.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while earning the Final Four Most Outstanding Player award and playing a central role in UConn’s title-winning campaign.

Her decision to return adds another level of excitement to the upcoming season, as UConn remains one of the premier programs in women’s college basketball. Bueckers’ leadership and on-court brilliance have been key to the team’s success, and with her back in the fold, the Huskies are poised for another run at the national title.

“Paige is one of the greatest players I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching,” Auriemma said. “Her love for UConn and her dedication to the game is unmatched. We’re lucky to have her for one more season.”

With Bueckers leading the charge, the Huskies will be a force to be reckoned with in 2025-2026. Fans can expect more thrilling performances and a determination to add another championship to UConn’s storied history.

In her own words, Bueckers made it clear: “I’m coming back for all the right reasons. There’s unfinished business, and I can’t wait to get back out there and show what we’re capable of.”

As the countdown to next season begins, one thing is certain — UConn basketball is in good hands, with Paige Bueckers at the helm.
