Maddy McDaniel staying put: Gamecock guard returns with eyes on Bigger Role in Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks Backcourt for the Upcoming Season

Freshman guard Maddy McDaniel has decided to remain with the South Carolina Gamecocks, as confirmed by a tweet from her parents. McDaniel, known for her defensive skills and playmaking ability, will return to Dawn Staley’s roster with a focus on taking on a larger role in the upcoming season.

McDaniel, a McDonald’s All-American and two-time MaxPreps Maryland Player of the Year, entered South Carolina as the No. 12 recruit in the Class of 2024. During her freshman year, she showed flashes of her potential, including a 10-point performance against Purdue and key defensive plays, such as four steals and six assists against East Carolina.
