Tennessee basketball will retain a key defensive force for the 2025-26 season, as center Felix Okpara has confirmed that he will return for his senior year. Okpara, who transferred to Tennessee from Ohio State before the 2024 season, played an integral role in the team’s defensive success this past year. His return promises to strengthen the Vols’ defense further.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, Okpara established himself as a dominant rim protector, leading the team with 64 blocks. His ability to redirect shots and prevent easy scoring opportunities was crucial for Tennessee, especially considering the team’s offensive challenges. While Okpara wasn’t a primary offensive threat, he contributed 6.4 points per game and formed a solid connection with Zakai Zeigler on alley-oops, showcasing his ability to contribute in key moments.

With Okpara’s return, Tennessee’s frontcourt will be well-equipped for the upcoming season, alongside fellow big men Cade Phillips and J.P. Estrella. The Vols also welcome highly-regarded recruit Dewayne Brown from Hoover, AL, and are keeping an eye on the transfer portal. With Okpara anchoring the defense, Tennessee looks poised to continue building on its strong defensive identity next season.
