BREAKING: Miami Football Pulls Off Major Recruiting Upset with Significant Flip of Four-Star Cornerback, Strengthening Already Impressive Class

Miami football made a significant move in the recruiting world on Saturday, securing a major flip from Georgia. The Hurricanes successfully flipped four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman, who had been committed to Georgia since July 2024, with confirmation from Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Wyman, a standout from Jonesboro, Georgia, is now the latest addition to Miami’s growing list of impressive recruits. The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback expressed his excitement about joining the Hurricanes, saying, “They say it’s all about The U…and now, so do I.”

This marks another notable win for head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami staff, who have become experts at convincing recruits to change their commitments. Wyman joins an already strong recruiting class that includes four-star cornerback Camdin Portis, the son of Miami legend Clinton Portis, and Jaelen Waters, another major flip from Florida earlier in the year.

The Hurricanes’ recruiting success has boosted their national ranking to No. 9, according to 247Sports, and they continue to strengthen their defensive backfield. Wyman was particularly drawn to Miami for the opportunity to compete for a starting role immediately and the genuine interest shown by the coaching staff.

Miami’s recruiting momentum shows no signs of slowing down, and with nine verbal commits for the 2026 class, the program is on the rise.
