MAJOR WIN: Yankees Strengthen Bullpen by Signing Veteran Fan-Favorite Reliever to Major League Contract for Highly Anticipated Second Stint in Pinstripes

The New York Yankees have made a key move to strengthen their bullpen by signing Adam Ottavino, a fan favorite, to a major league contract. This marks his return to the Yankees for a second stint in pinstripes. Ottavino, a 14-year MLB veteran, was immediately added to the active roster to fill in during the temporary absence of Yankees closer Devin Williams, who has been placed on the paternity list.

In a corresponding roster move, the Yankees placed JT Brubaker on the 60-day injured list to clear space for Ottavino. The right-handed reliever, who has previously pitched for several teams, including the Yankees, Rockies, Red Sox, and Mets, brings a wealth of experience to the bullpen. In his most recent season with the Mets, Ottavino posted a 2-2 record with a 4.34 ERA across 60 games.

Known for his electric stuff and fan-friendly demeanor, Ottavino boasts a career ERA of 3.49 in 724 appearances. His six-pitch mix, including his signature sweeper and sinker, will provide depth and flexibility in late-game situations as the Yankees look to keep their bullpen strong during Williams’ brief absence.
