BREAKING: UConn’s Paige Bueckers Earns Spot as Finalist for the 2025 Wooden Award and Named to First-Team All-American List for the Third Time After Dominating NCAA Tournament Performances, Leading Huskies to Final Four and Showcasing Career-Best Stats

UConn’s star guard, Paige Bueckers, has once again solidified her place among the best in college basketball. For the second consecutive year and the third time in her career, Bueckers earned a spot on the prestigious Wooden Award All-America Team. The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced her inclusion, highlighting her stellar performance throughout the season.

Additionally, Bueckers has been named a finalist for the 2025 Wooden Award, which is given annually to the top women’s player in college basketball. Her current season is one of her best, as she leads UConn with an average of 20.1 points per game, 171 assists, and a career-high 4.4 rebounds per game. She also holds the top spot in the nation for assist/turnover ratio at 3.5. Bueckers’ efficiency has been impressive, shooting 54.3% from the field, 43.2% from beyond the arc, and 88.8% from the free-throw line.

Bueckers’ outstanding play during the NCAA Tournament has further elevated her profile, including a game-high 31 points in a regional final win over USC. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Spokane Regional, contributing 29 points per game over four tournament games, including performances of 34, 40, and 31 points in her last three outings.

In addition to her Wooden Award nomination, Bueckers was recognized in the Associated Press, USBWA, and The Athletic All-America first teams. She was also named the Big East Player of the Year and was the Big East Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. The Wooden Award winner will be announced on April 11, 2025.
