BOOST: UConn Goalie Callum Tung Signs Deal with New York Rangers

STORRS, CT (WFSB) —  has signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers. The 21-year-old from Port Moody, British Columbia, inked the three-year deal, as announced by the university on Tuesday.

The Rangers, along with their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, have categorized the agreement as an amateur tryout.

During his single season with the UConn men’s hockey team, Tung posted a 10-4-1 record, with a .933 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average. He also helped the Huskies secure two victories in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Boston University and Quinnipiac.

UConn noted that Tung is the 10th player from their program to make it to the NHL.
