SUCCESS: South Carolina Basketball Secures Elite Transfer Guard in Major Portal Victory Over Top Programs to Strengthen Backcourt for Upcoming Season

The South Carolina Gamecocks have made a significant addition to their backcourt, landing Treysen Eaglestaff, a highly sought-after four-star transfer guard from North Dakota. Eaglestaff, who ranked No. 26 overall and No. 6 among combo guards in the portal, chose South Carolina over powerhouse programs Kentucky, Kansas, and Gonzaga.

Standing 6-foot-6, Eaglestaff showcased his scoring prowess last season, averaging 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 41.6% from the field, 35.9% from three-point range, and 79.4% from the free-throw line. His standout performances included a 40-point explosion with eight three-pointers and an incredible 51-point outing in the Summit League Tournament, solidifying his reputation as an elite offensive weapon.

South Carolina, in need of backcourt firepower and a consistent shot-creator, expects Eaglestaff to make an immediate impact. His ability to space the floor and knock down perimeter shots aligns perfectly with head coach Lamont Paris’ system.

“Coach wants me to take a lot of threes, and that’s exactly what I plan to do,” Eaglestaff said. “Spacing the floor, making plays, and knocking down shots is a big emphasis at South Carolina.”

With the addition of Eaglestaff, Paris continues to build a versatile and dynamic roster, positioning the Gamecocks for a strong season ahead.
