Florida Football Recruiting: Four-Star CB CJ Bronaugh Schedules Official Visit

Florida is set to host one of the nation’s top cornerback prospects as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its 2026 recruiting class.

Recruiting Push

Currently ranked 40th nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Florida head coach Billy Napier and his staff are actively working to bolster their 2026 recruiting class, which currently consists of just three commitments. As part of this effort, the Gators will welcome a highly sought-after recruit who is presently committed to a Power Four program.

Visit Confirmed

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh—who is currently committed to Nebraska—has locked in an official visit to Florida on May 30. Ranked as the No. 7 cornerback in the 2026 class by 247Sports, Bronaugh received his Florida offer just over 20 days ago and is being aggressively recruited by cornerbacks coach Deron Wilson, who is looking to land his first commitment with the team.

A Winter Garden, Florida native, Bronaugh recently visited Gainesville following trips to Tallahassee and Chapel Hill. Despite Florida being his most recent offer, the Gators have quickly gained momentum in his recruitment, with speculation growing about a possible decommitment from Nebraska. Florida and Florida State, both closer to home, could have a significant advantage in securing his pledge.

Bronaugh has a packed visit schedule, with trips planned to Nebraska (June 6), Florida State (June 13), and Penn State (June 20).

Scouting Report

Bronaugh is ranked 72nd nationally across all positions, showcasing his versatility and elite athleticism. His junior season performance included three pick-sixes, underlining his playmaking ability on defense.

247Sports’ Andrew Ivins provides insight into his potential:

*”An ascending defensive back prospect with some of the best speed markers in his class. While he hasn’t faced elite competition, he stood out at an Under Armour Next Camp in Orlando, displaying impressive athleticism and coverage skills.

Measuring over six feet with long arms, Bronaugh possesses the straight-line speed and range ideal for a safety role but also has the agility to thrive at cornerback. His aggressiveness in jumping routes resulted in three pick-sixes last season. Though a solid open-field tackler, improved play strength would enhance his effectiveness at the next level. With continued development, he has the potential to become a dynamic playmaker in a Power Four secondary.”*
