BREAKING: Tennessee Hosts Highly Touted 6-Foot-3 Quarterback Champ Monds in Key Recruiting Visit

A major recruiting event unfolded in Knoxville as the Tennessee Volunteers welcomed elite 2028 quarterback prospect Champ Monds from Vero Beach, Florida. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound standout was among several top recruits who visited campus over the weekend, marking an important step in Tennessee’s long-term recruiting efforts.

With their 2026 recruiting class already ranked in the nation’s top 10, the Vols used this visit to strengthen their future pipeline. Monds was joined by other key prospects, including Texas A&M linebacker commit Jordan Carter, USC target Xavier Griffin, running back Jaylen McGill, and in-state star Joel Wyatt.

Monds, already one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in his class, has received over 20 offers from powerhouse programs such as Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, and Ole Miss. His ability to make every throw, extend plays with his legs, and read defenses has made him a priority target.

“I feel like I bring everything to the table,” Monds said. “I can make any throw, create plays with my legs, and read defenses. I feel like I can do everything.”

The young quarterback, who models his game after Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson, recently visited Florida, where On3 projects a 63.2% chance of his commitment. However, Tennessee’s latest recruiting push could change the landscape of his decision.

With five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon already leading their 2026 class, the Volunteers are proving they are committed to securing top-tier talent for the future. This past weekend’s visit could be a game-changer as Tennessee continues to position itself as a serious contender in Monds’ recruitment.
