BOSTON (WHDH) – In a heartwarming display of community and legacy, Boston Bruins alumni joined forces with the Pete Frates Family Foundation on Saturday at Warrior Ice Arena to host a charity game in support of ALS research.
Led by Hall of Famer and former captain Ray Bourque, the Bruins alumni took to the ice against the Blue Line Blues—a team made up of both former and current competitive hockey players dedicated to raising awareness and funds for families facing the challenges of ALS.
Bourque emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “It’s all about finding ways to raise money for a great cause—it’s a horrible disease.” The Frates Foundation echoed these sentiments, noting that events like this not only generate crucial funds but also help spotlight the ongoing efforts to find a cure.

Among the supporters was Steve DiGiuseppe, who is living with ALS. Accompanied by his young family, DiGiuseppe shared, “I have two little kids, so that keeps you wild, crazy, and busy. There’s no slowing down, and we keep the fight going every day.”
The charity event successfully raised $65,000, with organizers expressing their hopes to make this a yearly tradition.
