March 27, 2025 – Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden remains a key offensive force in his 16th NBA season, averaging 22.6 points and 8.7 assists per game. While he may no longer be the dominant scorer he once was with the Houston Rockets, Harden’s longevity continues to set him apart.
Former teammate Patrick Beverley recently stirred debate by declaring that he would take Harden over Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade—citing only one reason.
“I saw the comparison between James Harden and D-Wade,” Beverley said. “The only reason I’m taking James Harden over D-Wade is longevity.”
Both players have spent 16 seasons in the league, but while Wade retired after his 16th season, Harden, at 35, is still competing at a high level and could extend his career further. Harden has 11 All-Star appearances, three scoring titles, and an MVP award, while Wade earned 13 All-Star selections, one scoring title, and three NBA championships.
Wade’s clear advantage lies in team success, having been a key player in all three of Miami’s championship runs. Harden, meanwhile, has yet to win a title and has not reached the NBA Finals since 2012, when his Oklahoma City Thunder lost to Wade’s Heat.
