The Colorado Avalanche have signed NCAA free agent Cooper Gay, a 23-year-old left-shot winger from St. Thomas, to a two-year Entry Level Contract (ELC) beginning in the 2025-26 season.
Gay is a familiar name within the Avalanche organization, having attended Colorado’s 2024 development camp. However, he was unable to participate on the ice due to an injury. Now fully healthy, he will have the opportunity to make his mark within the system.
Standing out at the collegiate level, Gay showcased his offensive skills with St. Thomas, a growing program in Minnesota. His strong hockey IQ and ability to contribute offensively earned him recognition, making him a valuable addition to the Avalanche’s prospect pool.
Gay is expected to begin his professional career with the Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, where he will continue his development and compete for a larger role within the organization.
