The New York Rangers have officially signed defenseman Jackson Dorrington to a three-year, entry-level contract, as announced by team President and General Manager Chris Drury. To close out the current season, Dorrington will join the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout (ATO).
At 20 years old, Dorrington played 37 games this past season for Northeastern University (Hockey East), where he registered 15 points (two goals, 13 assists), ranking fifth on the team in assists. Over three college seasons, the North Reading, Massachusetts native recorded 33 points (eight goals, 25 assists) in 105 games, boasting a plus-17 rating.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 192 pounds, the skilled blueliner impressed in the 2023-24 season, leading all Northeastern defensemen with six goals and earning his team’s Unsung Hero award. As a freshman, he played all 35 games and recorded 31 blocked shots, ranking fifth on the team.
Before his college career, Dorrington suited up for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, contributing 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 41 games. He was also recognized as a 2022 BioSteel All-American.
Originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Dorrington’s rights were acquired by the Rangers on January 31, 2025. Now, he’s set to take the next step in his hockey journey with the Blueshirts organization.
