HUGE BOOST: Gabriel Landeskog Shows Progress in Practice, Eyes Potential Playoff Return

Avalanche Captain Gabriel Landeskog Continues to Make Strides in Practice

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is making noticeable progress in his return to the ice.

On Monday, the Avalanche resumed practice at Family Sports Center, marking Landeskog’s fourth consecutive session with the team. The veteran forward looked sharp, even finding the back of the net during a drill and celebrating with a fist pump—an encouraging sight for fans.

Landeskog also joined the team on their recent road trip through Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, participating in morning skates without any reported setbacks. Head coach Jared Bednar had outlined this plan last week, and so far, everything seems to be going smoothly.

The Avalanche captain has not played since leading the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2022. After undergoing cartilage replacement surgery on his knee in 2023, Landeskog has been working tirelessly to return. He recently admitted that many players in his position might have chosen to retire, but his determination to rejoin his teammates remains unwavering. His journey back is even being documented in a new docuseries, with the ultimate goal of making a playoff return.

Following Monday’s practice, Bednar spoke with reporters for eight minutes but was not asked about Landeskog’s status. While there is no official timeline for his return, signs continue to point in a positive direction.

The Avalanche are set to play four consecutive home games this week against Detroit, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Calgary. With just seven games remaining in the regular season, Colorado sits three points behind Dallas for second place in the Central Division while maintaining a four-point lead over Minnesota in the wild-card race.

As the postseason kicks off on April 19 or 20, the biggest question remains—will Gabriel Landeskog be ready to hit the ice? Right now, the answer seems to be trending toward “yes.”
