MEGA SUCCESS: Indiana Football Secures Commitment from Three-Star Tight End to Ease Depth Concerns

Indiana Football has bolstered its future at the tight end position with the official commitment of three-star recruit PJ MacFarlane from Lakota East High School (Ohio).

With the tight end depth chart looking thin after losing Zach Horton last season, MacFarlane’s addition provides a much-needed boost for the Hoosiers. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, he brings size, athleticism, and strong receiving skills to the Indiana offense.

MacFarlane, who had a breakout junior season with 40 receptions, 586 yards, and eight touchdowns, selected Indiana despite offers from Notre Dame, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, and others.

“Indiana felt like the perfect fit,” MacFarlane told 247Sports. “I love what Coach Curt Cignetti is building, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

Hoosiers Secure a Key Piece for the 2026 Class

With sixth-year senior transfers Holden Staes (Tennessee) and Riley Nowakowski (Wisconsin), along with senior James Bomba, Indiana needed a young, promising tight end for the future—and they found their guy in MacFarlane.

His commitment helps ease concerns about the depth at the position, ensuring the Hoosiers have a dynamic option at tight end for years to come.
