Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. is scheduled to return to action in Saturday’s Cactus League game against the Cleveland Guardians, following a brief absence due to a left forearm contusion. Witt sustained the injury on Wednesday when he was struck by a 95-mph sinker during a game against the Seattle Mariners. He left the game for further evaluation, but X-rays revealed no fracture.
After missing a few days, Witt tested his forearm on Friday and felt good about making a comeback. Royals manager Matt Quatraro confirmed that Witt would take part in the game, focusing on hitting in the cage or on the field, while also participating in other activities.
Witt will start at shortstop and bat second behind Jonathan India. During spring training, Witt has posted a .276 batting average with two home runs and four RBIs across 29 at-bats.
