After her breakup from Brad Gilbert, Coco Gauff got another coaching offer.
Nick Kyrgios indicated interest in collaborating with the world No. 6 prior to her head coach parting relations with her.
And now one of her rival’s former instructors has extended another proposition to Gauff.
Shortly after her heartbreaking US Open exit, the 20-year-old broke off her coaching connection with Gilbert. Despite having won the title previously, Gauff was defeated by Emma Navarro in the fourth round after committing 19 double faults and 60 unforced mistakes in total.
Gilbert made the announcement on social media on Wednesday that he and Gauff were no longer together. He added, “Thanks to @CocoGauff and the entire team for 14 months of incredible team effort and for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023.”
“Coco, even at the age of 20, you have a very bright future ahead of you, and I wish you nothing but the best. The next phase of my coaching profession excites me.
The seven-time champion still works with Jean-Christophe Faurel as her secondary coach, but she’ll probably be searching for a new face to join her team. And now Naomi Osaka’s former coach has made an offer.
Sascha Bajin left a comment on a tennis maker Christian’s Court Instagram video that highlighted four possible Gauff coaching options. Among the names named was the German, and he too was enthusiastic.
The former coach of Osaka wrote, “I’m ready.” “They simply must give a call!”
When Osaka won her first two Grand Slam championships, the US Open in 2018 and the Australian Open in 2019, Bajin stood by her side. Soon after her victory in Melbourne, they broke up. In 2018, he was also named WTA Coach of the Year.
Bajin not only helped Osaka win her first Grand Slam match that year, but he also helped her win the Indian Wells championship. The 39-year-old has also collaborated with other WTA celebrities in the past. Following their breakup, Dayana Yastremska and Kristina Mladenovic were coached by Bajin, the four-time Major winner.
He had a pleasant two-year relationship with former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova, whom they helped to the 2021 Wimbledon final. But it’s unclear if Gauff will give him a call because other coaches are available following midseason camp adjustments made by the American’s competitors.
After four years together, Osaka and Wim Fissette split up, and it looks like they are currently working with Patrick Mouratoglou. Additionally, Elena Rybakina broke up her long-term relationship with Stefano Vukov prior to the US Open.
