Football between Georgia and Alabama is nothing new. The last ten years in particular have seen a lot of high-stakes matches. However, with Kalen DeBoer leading the Crimson Tide now, there’s a fresh vibe to the game this year.
Kirby Smart, the Georgia coach, is no longer facing his old boss, Nick Saban. It makes sense to oppose a new Alabama.
Though DeBoer has never coached against Smart, he is about to do so now as No. 4 Alabama takes on No. 1/2 Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, September 28 (6:30 p.m. CT, ESPN).
During the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, DeBoer stated, “I think the main thing is, this is for us our first conference game.” “It’s against the No. 1 opponent (ranked). Depending on where you look, maybe No. 2. Every Saturday, a team that is ranked highly and you know excels performs. is going to receive really good coaching. We are aware that it will be an excellent test for us. Really, the game is the focus. We have never before engaged in competition with one another. Recognize everything Coach Smart has done for this team throughout the many years he has dedicated to assisting us and our program’s development.
DeBoer is familiar with Smart because he has played college football before. DeBoer has also had the opportunity to get to know Smart somewhat through coaches meetings over the offseason, despite the fact that they haven’t coached against one another.
“His accomplishments, not only at Georgia but throughout his career, are evident from a distance, and they are truly remarkable,” DeBoer remarked. “He’s just one of those guys that tries his hardest to improve the game,”
Every squad has an open weekend before to their respective games. Georgia defeated Kentucky on the road, while Alabama recently won decisively over Wisconsin.
