After winning the US Open, Jannik Sinner became the first person to reach £8.1 million ($10.5 million) in prize money in 2024.
With two of those victories coming in the Grand Slams, the world No. 1 has already claimed six trophies this year.
He has earned more money this season than Rafael Nadal, Emma Raducanu, and Novak Djokovic put together.
When it comes to 2024 winnings, Sinner is far ahead of the game, even if he still has a ways to go before he can rank among the highest-earning players in history. He won £2.8 million ($3.6 million) at the US Open, his most recent victory.
The Italian was able to overtake Carlos Alcaraz as the person who has won the most money this year thanks to it. Furthermore, Sinner has made more money this season than three previous Grand Slam winners put together.
This year, Djokovic, Raducanu, and Nadal have collectively won £3.7 million ($4.8 million). The majority of the money goes to World No. 4 Djokovic, who has earned £2.9 ($3.8 million) from his tournament results thus far in 2024.
This season, the Serb has participated in just nine tournaments, and his lone victory came in the Olympics, where there is no cash award. He was shocked to lose to Alexei Popyrin in the third round of the US Open. Due to his unexpected early defeats and shortened schedule, Djokovic hasn’t won as much money as he usually does.
Raducanu has accumulated £495k ($646k) in total, the most of which has come via Grand Slam appearances. She lost her opening match at the US Open, but she advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon and the second round of the Australian Open.
Among the quartet, Rafael Nadal has made the least amount of money this year, having banked £231k ($302k) from the six tour-level events he has entered. The Spaniard is still dealing with persistent health problems and ailments. It meant he missed the US Open.
However, the greatest career prize money in tennis history is claimed by Djokovic and Nadal. As he went professional in 2003, Djokovic has earned £141 million ($183 million) in singles and doubles earnings, setting the record for the highest earnings in the sport. With £103 million ($135 million) in total earnings, Rafael Nadal sits in second place behind his opponent.
