Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the 2024 Laver Cup, effective immediately. The 14-time French Open champion made the announcement on Thursday.
“I regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the Laver Cup in Berlin the following week. Since this is a team tournament, I must act in Team Europe’s best interests. Right now, there are other players who can help the team win, Nadal stated in a statement.
“Playing Laver Cup brought back so many wonderful, sentimental memories for me, and I was eager to spend time with my teammates and Bjorn during his last year as captain.” I’ll be rooting for Team Europe from a distance and sending them my best wishes,” he continued.
