Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink shares heartbreaking message after tearing ACL
“This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger,” Brink shared on social media.
The U.S. 3×3 women’s basketball team selected Brink, who sustained an ACL tear Tuesday night during the squad’s loss to the Connecticut Sun.
It goes without saying that Brink’s heart broke.
“You never think that it will happen to you,” Brink wrote on social media. And occasionally it does, even with all the effort. Though it’s difficult to understand, I know that this will only strengthen me.”
Brink, a 6-foot-4 forward from Stanford and the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft (behind Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever), attempted to maintain an optimistic outlook despite the tragic circumstances.
“I will not be derailed, and I will continue to love this life—I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply, and I will work every day to get back to it,” she continued. “It’s just see you later, basketball. It’s not goodbye. I’m constantly very appreciative of your prayers and thoughts. #delayednotdenied 💜💛.”
