The Indiana Fever is still receiving new hardware from the Caitlin Clark period. News broke that Fever coach Christie Sides had won an accolade the team had never won before after Clark earned his second consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Week title.
The August WNBA Coach of the Month is Christie Sides.
In August, following their return from the WNBA’s month-long Olympic break, Sides and the Fever went 5-1. With two weeks left in the regular season, they are currently 17-16 and have secured their first postseason participation since 2016. In the process, they moved to.500 for the first time this season. They also won their highly anticipated game on Sunday.
The players gave their coach a cake and balloon surprise as a way to celebrate.
It makes sense to consider this to be a component of the Caitlin Clark effect. In Sides’s debut season as head coach, the Fever finished 13–27. After the intermission, Clark takes off, and the Fever are headed for their first winning season since 2015. They began at the bottom,, as Clark notes in the film, and now they’re here, consistently taking home accolades.
