Michaela Onyen was fiercely protecting Plum as her anger flared. After picking up her dribble and scoring over Onyenwere, Plum appeared to be fouled as she drove to the hoop. Plum had previously played for the Washington Huskies.
Following the basket, Plum started yelling at the official.
“Call that s**t,” Plum reportedly told the official.
The Aces’ game on Sunday was among their most intense so far this season. A’Ja Wilson scored the game-winning goal at the buzzer. Even at 75, Chennedy Carter had already equalized the score before the winning moment.
However, Wilson received the inbound ball down low and beat the buzzer with a bank shot. The Aces won the game 77-75. Plum scored 18 points on 8 of 17 shooting. She also had five rebounds and five assists.
The Aces will next face the Dallas Wings. They are now ranked No. 5 in the league, barely below the No. 4 Wings.
Kelsey Plum earlier lambasted officials following loss vs. Lynx
The Aces and Lynx met each other on Monday for the fourth time this season. The Aces lost their last three games vs. Minnesota and hoped to level the series with a win. However, that would not happen.
After the game, Aces standout Kelsey Plum expressed dissatisfaction with the officials. Plum stated their inconsistent calls lost her squad a key victory.
“It’s so interesting to me, I’m probably going to get fined but… I don’t feel it’s consistent,” Plum told reporters, referring to High Post Hoops. “I don’t feel that it’s constant, the way they call the game. I don’t feel it’s consistent…And when I say consistent, I’m talking about the officiating.”
Plum scored 11 points in the contest but struggled from the field. Except for A’Ja Wilson, the Aces’ top offensive players misfired.
The Aces are currently ranked No. 3 in the Western Conference with an 18-11 record. The defending champions have not looked like themselves this season. However, Los Vegas shouldn’t be counted out with Kelsey Plum and A’Ja Wilson on the roster.
