On Friday, Jannik Sinner received two rewards after making it to the quarterfinals of the Omnium Banque National présenté par Rogers. The Italian did this to become the first player to earn a trip to the Turin Nitto ATP Finals.
This year, from November 10–17 in Turin, the coveted season finale will mark Sinner’s third appearance overall and his second consecutive as the top-ranked player in the PIF ATP Ranking. Sinner advanced to the final at Inalpi Arena last year in front of his local crowd after making his event debut as an alternate in 2021. Ultimately, he lost to Novak Djokovic there.
At the Australian Open, the 22-year-old Italian won his first major championship. Subsequently, he emerged victorious in an indoor hard-court ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, achieved his second ATP Masters 1000 crown in Miami, and secured his maiden tour-level grass title in Halle.
Sinner not only won four victories this season—more than any other player on the Tour—but he also created history on June 10 by qualifying for the semifinals at Roland Garros. He overcame Djokovic to become the first Italian to hold the top spot in the PIF ATP Rankings.
Sinner, who defeated Alejandro Tabilo in Montreal to move to 44-4 on the season, will look to keep pulling ahead of second-place Carlos Alcaraz in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin. With 6,400 points at this point, the Italian leads Alcaraz by 450. Sinner is competing for the prestigious ATP Year-End No. 1 title, which is sponsored by PIF.
