With his win over Brandon Nakashima on Sunday, Alexander Zverev advanced to the US Open quarterfinals and secured his seventh trip to the Nitto ATP Finals. Inalpi Arena will host the season finale from November 10–17.
In seven of the last eight seasons, the German has secured a spot in the coveted year-end championships. He won the title in both 2018 and 2021, making him a two-time Nitto ATP Finals champion.
Only two active singles players have won the competition more than once: Novak Djokovic, the record seven-time champion, and Zverev, who won the title in 2018 by defeating Djokovic in the final and Roger Federer in the semifinals. In the event’s 70-year existence, just 10 players have won the competition more than once.
As per the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Zverev has secured the top spot on the ATP Tour with 56 victories in the 2024 season. The 27-year-old has had a steady season, winning the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome for the sixth time. In addition, he participated in his second major final in Roland Garros and another championship match in Hamburg, Germany.
In addition to winning titles in 2018 and 2021, Zverev has a 14-9 record at the Nitto ATP Finals. In 2019, he made it to the semifinals.
The German has joined Jannik Sinner as the second singles player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals this year.In doubles, Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos and Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic have qualified.
