Luka Doncic receives bold NBA Cup prediction amid toughest road yet
The 2024–25 NBA season is rapidly approaching, and Dallas Mavericks supporters can start making plans for which games to attend now the team’s schedule has been revealed.
The Mavericks host the San Antonio Spurs to open the season, and there are a number of highly anticipated games tucked into the schedule, including Klay Thompson’s November 12 homecoming to the Bay.
On November 12, Thompson will return to the Chase Center. It will also be Dallas’ first NBA Cup game, and even though their group is very formidable, all eyes will be on Luka Doncic and the Mavs.
Luka Doncic anticipated to top the NBA Cup in points scored
One of the predictions made by Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report before to the NBA Cup later this year is that Doncic will top the scoring chart. Doncic finished the previous season as the league’s top scorer, and Bailey thinks the NBA Cup will provide the ultimate stage for him to display his skills.
Bailey primarily thinks Doncic will lead the NBA Cup in scoring since Group C doesn’t have any outstanding perimeter defenders. Bailey goes into the New Orleans Pelicans, who have Herb Jones and Trey Murphy as multiple lockdown perimeter defenders. Doncic is expected to dominate offensively, as he usually does, even if Group C is the group of death.
Doncic will continue to put on a show offensively no matter who these opponents throw at him; Group C consists of Dallas, New Orleans, Memphis, Golden State, and Denver. Doncic is unstoppable, and he performs best in the brightest of circumstances.
In pivotal moments, Doncic always makes an enormous impression, and in the NBA Cup, he is primed to do just that. One more explanation Bailey offered for Doncic’s dominance over his rivals was that he has a ton of experience competing in midseason events.
After the Mavs’ dismal showing in the In-Season Tournament last year, Doncic is coming for blood. According to Bailey’s official projection, he will score roughly 35 points per game on average. To put things in perspective, Doncic didn’t win the scoring title of the event despite averaging 33.8 points per game in the In-Season event the previous year. Among players who participated in three or more games, this positioned him at fourth.
When the NBA Cup starts on November 12, Doncic taking this tournament into his own hands might swiftly change things, even though the Mavs aren’t now the favorites to win Group C.
