Sad News: Texas Longhorns Top star is out of 2024 season with torn Achilles

Christian Clark, a running back for Texas, has a new injury report, and it’s not good. The rookie running back’s Achilles tendon was torn. School administrators said in a statement on Tuesday that Clark will have surgery and miss the 2024–2025 season.

In as many weeks, Clark is the second Longhorn running back to sustain a season-ending injury. CJ Baxter, the starting quarterback, tore his posterior and lateral cruciate ligaments last week.

The Longhorns’ depth at running back has been nearly completely decimated by the two major injuries. To strengthen the running back room, the Texas coaching staff is thinking about transferring players from other positions.

“We’re looking at some different options, and I think we’re looking at it creatively, whether it’s a couple of guys on the offensive side of the ball, a potential player on the defensive side of the ball, or two, for that matter,” Steve Sarkisian stated before to Clark’s injury. Thus, we’re once more taking things day by day. There is still plenty of time. We’re merely attempting to gauge how they will perform offensively at the runner and how that will affect us at other positions should we select a player.

Three players have surfaced as potential running backs: safety Jelani McDonald, linebacker Derion Gullette, and wide receiver Ryan Niblett.
