The Bengal Tiger Podcast: LSU lands 2 commits in 24 hours

The Bengal Tiger Recruiting Podcast updates LSU supporters on two new football commitments made in the last 24 hours, in light of major news that was announced on Friday.

Safety CJ Jimcoily, a four-star recruit from Nashville, Tennessee, committed to LSU on Thursday. Jimcoily picked LSU over Alabama, Stanford, and Tennessee in the final four.

The Nashville, Tennessee, prospect is joining fellow 4-star Josh Thomas, a rising senior at Destrehan High in Louisiana, as the second safety committed to LSU safeties coach Jake Olsen and the Tigers for the 2025 class.

Jimcoily expressed his love and faith in coach Kelly to On3’s Chad Simmons. “He is creating an incredible recruiting class, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.” Recruits can sense Coach Kelly’s enthusiasm for LSU in his eyes, and it really affected me.

The prospect of playing for LSU and head coach Kelly excites them greatly. With Bryce Underwood and other commits, I have had conversations. They are enthusiastic about my future at LSU and are recruiting me. We all believe that coach Kelly is creating something exceptional in Baton Rouge, and that’s where it all began.

Two days later, on Friday, LSU received even more positive news when Louisiana wide receiver Phillip Wright III committed to the team.

Wright had only committed to the Wolverines for less than a month when he renounced his verbal promise to Michigan, which occurred one week prior to his announcement of his LSU commitment.

Wright had been leaning toward LSU according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), and the in-state prospect was lured away from Michigan’s class by an offer from the LSU Track and Field department and the football team’s aggressive recruiting strategy during the Bayou Splash event in July.

“I enjoyed interacting with the players and coaches in the (program).” Wright said to On3 that the visit went well. “That track offer means a lot to me because I’ve always wanted to race some of the best in the country and experience the next level of track.” I would be interested in seeing how that would pan out for me.

With Wright’s pledge, LSU will have three wide receivers in the 2025 class, including four-star prospects TaRon Francis of Louisiana and Derek Meadows of Nevada, both of whom are rated inside the On300.

After the most recent acquisitions, LSU has 21 commitments and is ranked third in the industry for the 2025 cycle according to On3 Recruiting Rankings.
