After Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles Paris Olympics final, Rafael Nadal had a special message for him.

At the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, Novak Djokovic’s victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles gold medal match was thrilling. Roland Garros is the venue for this year’s tennis tournaments. The Serbian team’s triumph was particularly noteworthy because it marked their first-ever Olympic gold medal. In addition to winning in straight sets, Djokovic also earned his second Olympic medal, 7-6 (3) 7-6 (2).

After the game, both players were very emotional, but for different reasons. After victory, Djokovic was overjoyed, and Alcaraz started crying. Rafael Nadal took to X with a special message for his compatriot. He said, “Carlos, although I know that today is a difficult day, value a medal that is very important for the entire country, and you will see, over time, that it is for you too.”

“We are grateful for this amazing week and the medal you gave us for Spanish sports. An embrace,” he continued.

Additionally, Nadal had a special message of congratulations for Djokovic. “Congratulations, Novak, on completing the (Career) Golden Slam and being able to achieve what you wanted,” he wrote in an Instagram story post. Excellent work.”

With the opening set lasting over 1.5 hours, the match was intense and featured many spectacular strokes and rallies. In the meantime, Djokovic waved his arms to energise the crowd during the second tiebreaker, when he hammered a cross-court winner while on the move to grab a 10-shot point and a 3-2 lead. He quickly won the game with a forehand.

“When I take everything into consideration, this is probably the biggest sporting success I ever had in my career,” Djokovic remarked following his victory. Everything I had hoped to experience, feel, and envisage has kind of been surpassed by this.”
