Roger Federer Reveals He’s on the Brink of Big Announcement
It’s been about two years since tennis great Roger Federer announced his retirement at an epic Laver Cup back in 2022.
Despite longtime opponents who will soon join him on the sidelines and a new generation of men’s stars willing and ready to take his mantle, though, the Swiss great remains a household name in the world of tennis.
Case in point? The future alliance with sports apparel and equipment manufacturer Wilson that Federer revealed on his Instagram story Wednesday morning.
A short video of him hitting a backhand is accompanied by word overlays indicating an August 8th announcement date and Federer’s distinctive emblem with Wilson’s iconic ‘W.’
“Exiting project coming,” he said in the caption, also attaching ‘SOON’ and hourglass emojis.
Wilson released the same video soon before Federer, along with the caption, “The future of the game begins August 8th.”
One of the most distinguished players in the history of tennis, Federer won 103 singles titles (second-most ever), 20 grand slams (third-most) and spent a record 237 consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the world.
Alongside foils turned friends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, Federer is a prominent element of the Big Three that dominated men’s tennis for nearly two decades, beginning in the mid-2000s.
Keep a watch out for further intel on Federer’s work with Wilson coming up to August 8th
