Breaking News: Michigan football Should Be Ready To Face NCAA Allegations Of…

There have been rumors circulating that the NCAA is planning to investigate the supposed sign-gate controversy that surrounded the Michigan football team during the 2023 season when they were competing for the national title.

We have learnt that the NCAA is not rational, which is the one thing that we have learned about them.It has been reported by Chris Balas of The Wolverine that the notice of allegations would be forthcoming this week. You’ll have to subscribe to read the complete story, although there is discussion of a “postseason ban.”

Connor Stalions was always going to face a show cause. We’ll see what else emerges but the idea of the NCAA pushing for a postseason ban would be absurd. There would have to be more evidence than anything we have heard about and even then, it’s hard to defend that.

It wouldn’t be unexpected if the NCAA is trying to make an example of the Wolverines. Their power is diminishing and they really appear to have it in for Michigan football as the selective prosecution of “Burgergate” indicates.

Michigan merely needs to be ready to fight

Regardless, as long as Michigan is prepared to battle the NCAA, which it should do, I don’t think we’ll see a postseason ban. That would be much over the line considering all the other things that have gone on, and like we mentioned, there needs to be evidence.

If the NCAA pursues a postseason ban, Michigan needs to fight in court if needed. The NCAA has a dismal record in court and playoff suspensions are largely a thing of the past anyway.

It doesn’t make sense to punish future athletes for past transgressions, regardless of what those infractions were, and as long as Michigan doesn’t buckle to the NCAA, I’d think a postseason ban isn’t that plausible.
