Michigan football making decision ‘difficult’ for 5-star offensive tackle

Andrew Babalola is expected to decide soon and Michigan football is pushing to land the five-star offensive tackle.

Things are about to heat up in the 2025 recruiting class for Michigan football. That’s true about the rest of college football too as the dead period ends for the last weekend in July. For the Wolverines that means the Michigan football recruiting BBQ. Some key visitors are expected on campus such as top-100 wideouts in the 2025 class Jerome Myles and Andrew Marsh.

Michigan football seems to have a legitimate chance to land both. They also need to guard against a flip of Phillip Wright, a three-star wideout from Louisiana who committed to the Wolverines recently (July13th). LSU made a push at the end and the Tigers might even host Wright for a visit this weekend, which wouldn’t be a great sign in my book. Marsh, Myles, Jayden Sanders, and five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola are among the top names left on the board in the 2025 class.

Michigan leads, according to the expert projections, for Marsh and Sanders. Stanford leads for Babalola according to the On3 prediction machine but according to Steve Wiltfong of On3.com, Michigan football “is making it a difficult decision.” Stanford has struggled in recent years but the program is on the upswing. It’s hard to imagine Stanford building a national title contender in the ACC though, which is weird all around.

The academics are definitely a selling point but Michigan can make a strong argument there too. The Wolverines also have more offensive lineman on NFL rosters than any team in college football. It feels like a win-win for Babalola, who is from Kansas just like Sherrone Moore. Wiltfong said he should know “soon” meaning a commitment could be coming in short order and from a Michigan football perspective, the Wolverines have done all they can do.
