Michigan football misses on 5-star wideout, what’s next?
Derek Meadows, a five-star wide receiver out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, committed to LSU on Saturday, officially missing out on Michigan football’s offer. Meadows had previously considered Notre Dame, Michigan, and other schools.
Fans of Michigan football thought there could be a chance. Meadows postponed his choice last week, and some thought it was because of Michigan or Notre Dame.
Last week, LSU was the clear favorite, and when you’re the favorite, you generally don’t want to see a delay. It didn’t really matter in the end, though, because the Tigers were able to prevail.
What’s coming up for wide receiver recruiting at Michigan football?
The good news is that two more top-100 wideouts in the 2025 class could be Michigan players. Among them is the four-star player from Texas, Andrew Marsh. The other is Utah native Jerome Myles, a top-100 talent.
Next weekend, both are anticipated to attend the Michigan football recruiting BBQ. Multiple crystal balls and expert projections from the On3 prediction engine have projected Marsh to the Wolverines, with U-M being the clear favorite.
However, predictions are not promises. The Wolverines must close, and Marsh must make a decision by August. Michigan football players need to have the opportunity to do so at the barbecue. They have two excellent wide receivers from Louisiana, Phillip Wright and Jacob Washington.
The Wolverines can feel good about their wide receiver haul in the 2025 class as long as they land one or both of Myles and Marsh, who I think Michigan would pick if they could land both.
