5-star OL Josh Petty Sets Commitment Date

Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School offensive lineman Josh Petty, a five-star recruit, has visited Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Stanford, and Tennessee. He will announce his commitment on August 12, choosing from these five schools.

“Josh is highly driven by his success in both the classroom and on the field,” his father James told On3. “He thrives in a locker room with lots of synergy, works hard in everything he does, and holds his team to the same standard. That’s the kind of environment where Josh will excel.”

Petty, the nation’s No. 29 recruit, has been impressed by each of the five schools and spoke to On3 this spring about what will make one stand out. “Who makes me feel like a priority will separate one school for me,” Petty said in April. “You can tell if a school wants you by how they talk to you. I will go where I am cared about. These visits will show me a lot about the people and the education. Those things mean a lot to my future.”

Josh Petty Recruiting Profile

Petty is ranked as the No. 2 offensive lineman and No. 7 recruit in Georgia by the On3 Industry Ranking. On3’s Scouting and Rankings team describes him as:

“An athletic, physical offensive lineman with significant developmental potential. Standing at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds with 33.5-inch arms, Petty is a two-way standout at offensive tackle and defensive end. He shows high-end movement skills, easily working to the second level and moving with fluidity. He plays both sides of the ball with a high level of conditioning. Petty is a strong wrestler, finishing as the state runner-up as a sophomore, and also competes in shot put with a personal best of 40-8.5 feet. While he faces lower-level competition in high school, his upside is highest on the offensive line. He is more advanced as a run blocker than a pass protector but has the athletic ability to excel in pass blocking with further development. Petty is younger for his class, with an August birthday, and could potentially be a 2026 prospect by age.”
