Georgia dismisses defensive back David Daniel-Sisavanh

Georgia declared on Tuesday that safety David Daniel-Sisavanh has left the team due to a rule infraction.

In a statement issued by the university, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said, “We wish David good luck during his next step.”

According to a Georgia Department of Public Safety report, Daniel-Sisavanh was charged with reckless driving last week after his 2021 BMW M340i, which he was driving south on the Downtown Connector in Atlanta, made several lane changes at high speed without using blinkers and led police on a pursuit.

Daniel-Sisavanh committed to Georgia as a recruit for the class of 2021. During the previous season, he participated in ten games for Georgia, starting one against South Carolina. Throughout the season, he recorded 10 tackles and one pass breakup.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Georgia signed four defensive backs; however, only freshman KJ Bolden is anticipated to play safety. Georgia did sign Jake Pope, a transfer from Alabama, and Collin Gill, a transfer from Oregon.

Tykee Smith at safety and Javon Bullard at star, respectively, must be replaced by the Bulldogs. Dan Jackson, Pope, and Bolden are contenders to take Bullard’s place at safety, while Joenel Aguero and JaCorey Thomas are anticipated to battle for the Star opening. Malaki Starks, an All-American, returns to the Bulldogs.

Georgia also announced that offensive tackle Kelton Smith would be retiring from football due to health reasons. Smith will continue to be a scholarship player and assist the squad in a different way.

“A player never finds this transition easy, but we promise to be there for Kelton during this time and give him the support he needs,” Smart remarked. “We are sad to lose someone with Kelton’s character, but we are excited for him to continue being a part of our program.”
