Nadal practices in Bastad ahead of ATP Tour return
Rafael Nadal has returned to Bastad after almost twenty years away. The Spaniard had a great day practicing on Thursday at the Nordea Open, where he will play in the ATP 250 as a wild card the following week.
The former number one in the PIF ATP Rankings welcomed the crowd and performed a hit with Swedish #NextGenATP player Ludvig Fredrik Hede. Nadal is a past champion in Bastad, having won there in 2005 on his most recent visit.
It will be the 38-year-old Nadal’s first competitive encounter since his first-round Roland Garros loss to Alexander Zverev on May 27. Nadal has hinted that 2024 may be his last season. His best performance of the season thus far, a fourth-round run in Madrid on home soil, has put him at 7-5.
