Tennessee Vols are in second tier of contenders for elite 5-star recruit
The Tennessee Vols aren’t thought to be in the top group of teams vying to produce a five-star wide receiver in 2025.
On3 released a ranking of the candidates for multiple five-star recruitment on Thursday. Jaime Ffrench, a five-star wide receiver ranked No. 4 in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports composite, was one of those prospects.
Miami, LSU, and Texas were identified by On3 as the “tier one contenders” for Ffrench. The only team classified as a “tier two contender” for the gifted wide receiver was Tennessee.
From On3: Jaime Ffrench, a Mandarin star from Jacksonville, Florida, may have a tiny advantage over Texas, but LSU and Miami are also strong candidates for the Sunshine State standout, who is anticipated to visit all three universities in July before making his August selection.
In June, French, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Jacksonville, Florida, paid Tennessee a formal visit. He’s also been to Rocky Top a number of times informally this spring, so he knows a lot about Knoxville and the Vols coaching staff.
When Ffrench announces his commitment on August 30, it would be surprising if he chose the Vols, but it is not totally out of the question. Over the past few months, Ffrench’s recruiting has been all over the place, with different programs appearing to take the lead in this fight at different periods.
Maybe the Vols can mount a comeback and execute a spectacular play. They are undoubtedly still present in this conflict.
